Tom is an Economist at the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific. Before joining the United Nations, Tom was based at the Financial Times’ London headquarters, in a specialist division focused on foreign investment. Tom has worked with, developed and implemented investment attraction action plans, investment and incentive policies and special economic zone frameworks for numerous countries across Asia-Pacific, the Middle East and Africa, Europe and Latin America. Tom has contributed to and published a number of UN, UNCTAD, and OECD publications as well as magazine and academic journal articles and a forthcoming Routledge edited volume. His research focuses on the political economy of trade and investment, economic diplomacy and the state of globalisation. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Durham University and a master’s degree from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
