Dr. Giri is the Founder and Creative Director of Mountain Crafts, a Bhutan-based social enterprise. With over two decades of extensive experience in environmental management, climate change, and crisis response and recovery, Seeta has held pivotal roles with the United Nations across the Asia-Pacific, Central-Eastern Europe, and Africa.
Mountain Crafts reflects Dr. Giri’s vision to empower rural artisans in Bhutan by bridging them to regional and international markets. Her mission encompasses cultural preservation, the promotion of sustainable business practices, and the advocacy of nature-based products. A staunch advocate for community resilience through cultural and ecosystem conservation, she holds a Master’s degree in Sustainable Development and a Ph.D. in Natural Resources Management. Her commitment to uplifting local communities and preserving indigenous knowledge systems drives her impactful contributions to Bhutan’s artisanal industry.
