Ms. Samaraweera, with over 25 years of experience at the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka, serves as the Executive Director of the Research and Policy Advocacy Department, wherein she leads and oversees the department’s operations, conducting and supervising research studies related to economic and investment promotion, regulatory analysis, sectoral assessment, market analysis, international performance benchmarking, and monitoring investment trends.
She is actively involved in various high-level committees, including the Technical Working Group on Establishing New Export and Investment Facilitation and Promotion Framework, the Committee on Formulation of New Investment Incentive Package to attract and promote investments, the Technical Advisory Committee on Developing Standard Operating Procedure to Facilitate Investment, and the EDB Advisory Committee on Trade Information and Promotion. She is also a member of the Working Groups on Investment and Services of the National Trade Negotiation Committee, actively engaged in trade negotiations that are presently underway, and a member of the official delegation at the Committee on Trade, Investment, Enterprise and Business Innovation at the UNESCAP.
She is a BSc. (Hons) graduate from the University of Peradeniya, with Msc. (Management) from the University of Sri Jayawardenapura and a MA in International Relations from the University of Colombo. She has also published several research papers on trade and investment, both internationally and locally.
